When we bagan our journey back in 2012 we tested the waters at the Truman Buildings weekly Sunday Up Market, and joined the army of weekend market traders who rise in the dark to pack and transport their wares to the world famous markets of London and beyond....(those were the days)!
One of the things that I remember most fondly was the comraderie of the traders. We all set up every weekend in the early hours (at a time when most people were just reaching for their first tea or coffee of the day) in anticipation of a busy day of browsers and buyers.
One of our initial encounters was with Tim, Heritage brand afficianado and super-fan of the Walsh Casual brand. Not content with simply being a collector of fabulous clothes and accessories, Tim (who works full time running his own successful company) also devoted his Sundays to showcasing the Walsh line of casual shoes and in doing so he bought much merth to the business of Sunday trading for his neighbouring traders.
The story of the Walsh brand is an interesting one: Norman Walsh began, at the tender age of 14 as an apprentice in Bolton based Foster Brothers Footwear. Norman went on to become a master craftsman and later to become the responsible for the professional athletic customers of the business. In 1948 he ws chosen to make many of the shoes work by the British Olympic team for the London based 1948 Olympic Games. 13 years later he founded Norman Walsh Footwear and the rest is history as they say.
When we launched the Cock & Bull & Co. boutique it was with the view to offering a line of clothing and accessories that adhered to our sustainable and ethical remit and while the Norman Walsh line ticked so many boxes with regard to the aesthetic, cool factor and sustainable production, we obviously could not carry the line due to our policy on non-leather products. 2 years later, I am very happy to announce that we have received our first box of Norman Walsh (non-leather/ vegan) trainers!!!
Available in two designs, the Ensign or the Lostock they are the very cool finishing touch to any casual outfit.
