12 Dec 2017I remember my first visit to the Future Fabrics Expo over 5 years ago. I was beyond excitement at the prospect of discovering new innovations in sustainable fabrics and the expo did not disappoint.
Since the visit, the Cock & Bull Menswear collection went on to create collections made from 100% organic cotton, PET (hemp and recycled polyester) and 100% hemp textiles and yarns. This year the list of exhibited fabrics is even longer than previous years and spotlights some very exciting innovations including those below:
- Algae-derived materials
- Apple skin vegan leather
- Denims with post-consumer recycled cottons from Responsible denim alliance
- Chrome-free tanned leathers
- Cradle to Cradle certified yarns and threads
- Ecovero™, TENCEL™Luxe, Tencel™, Refibra™, Modal™ by Lenzing Group
- GOTS certified links, fabrics, lace, and ribbons
- Orange fibre
- Oyster shell fabrics
- Mushroom leather
- Pineapple textile
- Recycled polyester from ocean plastics
2018 and beyond Cock & Bull Menswear will feature some of these interesting innovations and so I am very much looking forward to sourcing at the upcoming 7th Future Fabrics Expo. Until then below is a video from last year's event.
